The first time I practiced yoga was my senior year of high school to a video tape I found in the den of our house. It belonged to my mother and I consider it the starting point of my career. While attending undergrad at UNC-Chapel Hill I studied power yoga and then moved to San Francisco, CA where my studies continued at the Iyengar Yoga Institute. It was at this stage of practicing yoga that I was introduced to Anusara Yoga. I began to read about it and became extremely curious about the concept that yoga was about “following your heart” and “always looking for the good.”

In 2002 I took my first Anusara Yoga class which was with Sarah Faircloth. It was instant love and there was no turning back from there. I immediately began studies with John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga, and I continue to study with John Friend and Sarah Faircloth to this day. In March of 2008 I became one of 250 Certified Anusara Yoga Teachers worldwide. I have also had the honor of studying with Tantric Philosophy Scholars Douglas Brooks, Paul Muller-Ortega, and Bill Mahony who make the teachings of Anusara Yoga resonate with a profound presence and provide a strong basis for an enriched teaching style. I am close to finishing my first year of studying Energy Healing with Kelley Gardner and have begun to incorporate these teachings into my group classes and yoga privates, which I am absolutely thrilled about and honored to do.

I teach group classes, workshops and immersions. After practicing as a massage therapist for seven years, I now incorporate my knowledge of the body and sensitivity with touch into my yoga teachings. I have a strong passion for working one-on-one with students of all levels in my yoga privates and feel that this is a very powerful way to advance and enhance a student’s progress on his or her yoga path. My teaching style has been described as playful, dynamic, challenging, intuitive and wonderfully healing.

When I am not teaching I live my yoga spending time with my husband, family and friends. I feel so blessed to be a part of the Carolina Kula.
